On October 6, 2016 The University of Alabama at Birmingham held the groundbreaking for the School of Nursing Expansion and Renovation. M. J. Harris project team members were in attendance, along with many donors and alumni.
Since this is an expansion and there’s actually no dirt being turned, the facility had a unique way of ceremoniously starting off the construction. Donors and some alumni were given golden hammers and asked to hammer a nail into a large rendering of the new facility and sign their names. Once the expansion and renovation are completed this will hang on the wall for future generations to see.
