M. J. Harris attended the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Alabama “Safest in the Industry” luncheon, where we received our 2013 Gold STEP (safety training and evaluation process) Award. STEP Awards incorporate both OSHA required safety data with self-assessment requirements to give a full, wide-ranging report on the entire nature of a company’s safety program. Lance Couch, Senior Project Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the company. M. J. Harris is also proud to announce that our Experience Modification Rate (EMR) continues to improve. Effective June 2013, our EMR will drop from 0.75 to 0.68. An EMR of 1.0 is considered industry average. EMR is a number used by insurance companies to gauge both past costs of injuries and future chances of risk. Lower than average EMR ratings are the result of effective safety programs that eliminate hazards and prevent injuries. This reduced EMR rate is a representation of our commitment to safety, and we thank all of our employees, especially those in the field, for their dedication to maintain a safe workplace!
